The Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005, which came into force w.e.f. 12.10.2005, is an important legislation designed to promote transparency and accountability in the functioning of public authorities. It has been recently decided to bring the Embassies of India abroad also under the purview of the Act.

Public Information Officer
